Correctional Health

Correctional Drug Treatment Provider
Community Medical Services is a collaborative partner to Drug Courts, Probation and Parole, and Correctional Health Services.

In Arizona, the Maricopa County Superior Court Drug Court and Maricopa County Correctional Health chose Community Medical Services as their contracted Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) provider in the state. Additionally, The Office of Behavioral Health Licensure licensed Community Medical Services as a drug treatment provider to provide services within the Maricopa County Jail system and within the Arizona Department of Corrections. CMS coordinates care, provides community based services, and maintains after-hours staff–supporting the patient and the justice system with services and information around the clock.

Community Medical Services can also develop successful individualized diversion programs for judicial systems that are rural in nature or that are experiencing extenuating circumstances. CMS can help develop individualized release plans addressing the concerns of the court, while also supporting the needs of the patient. This is accomplished by a coordinated team approach working within the judicial process and by developing a supportive team of correctional staff and a behavioral health workers.

Research and experience has demonstrated that by having MAT staff involved during these transitions and processes, the community team reduces recidivism and relapse while increasing treatment adherence.
